The Joy of Waterboiling is the first foreign language book in contention for the much sought after Diagram Book prize.
And what exactly is the Diagram book prize? Well according to The Guardian it’s an award that’s been sponsored by trade magazine Bookseller for “over the past 40 years” and may be the “literary world’s strangest prize.” It goes out of its way to recognize “odd, peculiar and head-scratching titles regardless of the merit of what lies between the covers.”
Oh! One caveat, the title has to be in English – but evidently not the contents!
As you’d expect, a number of other titles are in contention, but to learn which ones, you’ll need to click here and read the article.
