ATG Quirkies: Live the Dream: Run a Bookstore in Scotland for Two Weeks

by | Jul 27, 2015 | 0 comments

open book1Did you know that Scotland has an official book town!  Selected after a national search, Wigtown is located in Galloway in the southwest of the country and is home to over 20 book-related businesses. Not bad for a place that counts a total of 1000 residents.

Recently one of Wigtown’s numerous books stores was up for sale and couldn’t find a buyer so the Wigtown Book Festival organization stepped in. They came up with an inventive solution – a bookseller residency program that invites people to run the store for a two-week period and blog about it.  As of now, the program is set to last only six months so you’d better get your dibs in soon.

You can follow the adventures of The Open Book residents as they undertake their two week stay in Scotland’s National Book Town at The Open Book blog.
