ATG Quirkies: Is there anything that can’t be curated?

by | Apr 20, 2015 | 0 comments

shoes pixabayDavid Balzer claims in his Guardian article that everything including reading lists, outfits, even salads are curated – it’s absurd

But it should really come as no shock. As Balzer goes on to note “the curator has always been a bit of an amateur” and he backs it up with a short history lesson tracing things back to the Romans and then through the Middle Age up to contemporary “pop-culture “curators” at the turn of the millennium like Oprah Winfrey and Martha Stewart.”   He also has some interesting things to say about the impact of social media and how “in the art world, real curators are being supplanted by crowd-sourcing.”
