Two Recognized for Widespread Mentoring Contribution to Information Profession.

Alexandria, Virginia, 24 June 2011 – Mary Talley, TalleyPartners, and Judith Tapiero, The Organized Library, have been named recipients of the Special Libraries Association’s (SLA) Rose L. Vormelker Award.

The award is presented to SLA members for exceptional service to the information profession through education and mentoring of students and working professionals. The recipients are being honored for their dedication to guidance within the association, as conduits to area MLIS graduate schools, and as mentors on the personal level.

“These two members are truly an invaluable presence within our community,” stated 2011 SLA president Cindy Romaine. “The relationships they’ve built and their creative methods for building them are undeniably impressive. In information science schools, within their own chapters, and on a global scale, both Mary and Judy are bolsters to our young community, and part of the reason why SLA is instrumental for so many young people embarking on new careers.”
