The American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG) and Nature Publishing Group (NPG) today announce a publishing partnership for Genetics in Medicine. NPG will begin publishing Genetics in Medicine in January 2012 on behalf of ACMG.
Genetics in Medicine (GIM) is the official journal of the American College of Medical Genetics, the largest professional association of medical geneticists in the United States. The journal’s mission is to enhance the knowledge and practice of medical genetics. A peer-reviewed monthly journal, GIM publishes original research papers in contemporary genetic medicine, including such areas as genomics, chromosome abnormalities, metabolic diseases, the clinical application of next-generation sequencing, single gene disorders, genetics and the law, and all levels of education in human medical genetics.
Published since 1998, the journal has a 2009 Impact Factor of 3.922 and ranks 37 out of 146 Genetics and Heredity journals in the 2009 Journal Citation Report (Thomson Reuters, 2010). Editor-in-Chief, James P. Evans, MD, PhD, FACMG Director of the Bryson Program in Human Genetics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill leads an expert editorial board.
